Job Description - Evaluation Engineer
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for the technical management and manufacturing readiness of hard disk and solid state drives. Assignments include full supplier management, firmware qualification, and steady state regression testing. Responsible to define and document requirements, manage the supplier activity, develop and execute a comprehensive firmware qualification plan that includes elements of software characterization testing, hardware characterization testing, and test tool development utilizing programming skills. Establishes systems and procedures to ensure and enhance overall hard drive quality. Responsible for System Integration testing, debugging and troubleshooting of firmware bugs and issues by analyzing extensive drive and system traces and logs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integrating different Vendor HDDs and SSDs into EMC storage systems by running extended System Integration testing to stress drive firmware
Debug and troubleshoot HDD/SSD firmware issues to identify the root cause and fix them with HDD supplier's firmware team support
Run EMC ‘storage system' level and bench level performance testing for HDDs and SSDs and share results with cross functional groups within EMC
Run extended(3-6 months) firmware qualification tests for HDDs and SSDs
Work in a worldwide team environment and collaborate with different cross functional groups within EMC
Full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
Provides resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope. Uses judgment within defined practices and procedures.
Works under normal supervision. Follows established directions. Work is reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy
Contributes to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives
Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters

EDUCATION REQUIRED: BACHELORS OR MASTER (ELECTRICAL OR COMPUTER)
